Stage 8 (2005/2006 but by 2008 at the latest) is a timber footbridge where a footpath crosses the bed of the dry canal at the site of the former swing bridge No.4. The funding of this footbridge is partly by a donation from Pat Saunders, a late work party volunteer after whom the bridge will be named. A temporary bund may be provided at Bridge 4 to permit re-watering from bridge 4a up to this point
