Stage 1 (2005/2006) is the first of six main stages of relining the dry canal bed ready for re-watering and is 321 metres long and includes a 50m reinforced concrete towpath wall to form a short term mooring, one of four such moorings to be provided under Phase II.

The length has already been cleared. It requires annual striming of weeds.

November 2001: Stage 4 has been cleared, but already it is begining to grow over again. Mar 2003: We did are annual striming of weeds and stumping with BITM.

2005

Since April 2005, we have excavated the first fifty metres and also capped the old pipeline under the canal with a concrete raft.

Aug 2006.A 14ft narrow has been constructed at the old sump and lined for10 metres Sep 2006. The first lined length.
