Stage 12 (2010/2011) is the final stage after all other work is done and will require a short term diversion of water at the by-pass directly into Wilstone Reservoir while the temporary dam and sump into the pipeline at Drayton Beauchamp are removed. It also includes the provision of a vertical nose wall to the winding hole at the by-pass that will extend it from 60ft to 72ft boat length turning capability. This will not require any de-watering of the canal although the winding hole will be out of action while work is in hand. Stage 12 also covers the removal of any other bunds constructed during Phase II and the bund at the end of Phase I.
